Sewa International works with its sister organizations to identify various beneficiary populations for the Sponsor a Child program.
Youth for Seva conducts the Sponsor a Child program with support from Sewa International through its project Vidya Chetana. Founded in 2007, YFS envisions a ‘self-reliant and happy society where there is harmony and the developmental needs are addressed locally through individuals who act without vested interest.’ The projects of YFS are diverse and range from maintaining environmental harmony to creating social harmony. The SAC program was launched as an independent project under YFS in 2009 in conjunction with Sewa International.
Vanavasi Kalyan, Karnataka was established in 1989. The goal of the organization is to enable tribals or vanavasis achieve economic growth and stability, while retaining their core values and social fabric. Education of siddi tribes of North Karnataka was the first project. The organization runs 300 projects in 265 places (mainly, remote forest areas) covering 8 districts of Karnataka. These projects include Balawadi (kindergarten), Bala sanskara Kendra (cultural centers), Boys Hostels, Girls Hostels, Grama Vikasa (village development), Self-help groups, Health Services, Libraries, Tuition Centers, Agriculture Centers, and Sports centers. The beneficiary tribes include: Siddi, Gowli, Kumbri, Marathi, Valmiki, Valmiki, Siddi, Danagara Gowli, Soliga, Jenu Kuruba, and Kumbri Marathi.
